A Fused Glass Textured And
Painted Slumped Glass Plate



A fused glass textured plate painted with glass powder and slumped in a glass kiln.

This fused glass plate has been made from two pieces of glass, one of which has been painted with glass powder frit and then fused on a flat textured mold.

You can use either COE 90 or COE 96 art glass; Coe 90 was used for this tutorial. Size and colors can be altered to suit your design choices.

You will need the following materials for this project:

1 x 4 " square piece clear fusing glass.

1 X 4 1/4" square opaque yellow fusing glass.

Glass cutter.

Glass fusing kiln.

Kiln washed shelf or thin fire paper.

Flat textured mold

Slumping mold.

Proceed as follows:

Step 1. Cut one four inch square piece of clear fusing glass.

Step 2. Cut one four and a quarter inch square piece of yellow fusing glass.

Step 3. Paint clear glass as detailed on the glass powder painting page.

Step 4. When the paint is dry place clear glass painted side down on textured mold. Yellow glass is then placed on top with sides overhanging the bottom glass.

Step 5. You can use your own firing schedule or use this one as a guide:

Step 6. Remove fused glass plate from glass kiln.

Step 7. Place fused glass in slumping mold, textured side up, and put in glass kiln.

Step 8. Use above schedule but replace 1450 with 1320 to 1350 for the slumping process.

Monitor slumping to ensure that the glass slumps correctly.

Step 9. When cool, remove textured slumped glass plate from glass kiln.
