Chain Maille Starter Chain

by Donna
(Sydney Australia)

When I make a new chain maille item, if the chain has been hard to start I make it about one inch longer and keep the extra piece to start the next chain of the same type.

With chains that are easy I usually don't bother, but persian weaves and jens pind can be difficult to master.

One of the easiest starts to Persian weave that i have seen is on a DVD "Weaving Silver" Chainmail Bracelets-Vol. 1 by Spider.

Well worth a look.

Just starting with chain maille, sounds like a great idea to me.

Great tip Donna, I'm all thumbs with a persian weave.

I've tried Spider's method and it works very well, very easy.
